Home is Where the Heart Is: Getting Pretty
When I arrived at my hair appointment I realized that the only camera I had brought with me had a dead battery. What as a bride to do? I whipped out my cell phone and my MOH took photos with my camera phone. They are not the best but at least they are something. I love how my hair and make-up turned out. It was almost exactly how I imagined it.

Invitations: The final reveal
Our guests should be recieving their invitations today or tomorrow, so here they (finally) are in all there glory!
I made custom vellum address wrap around labels, you can see the fronts in the box:

and the back side:

When our guests open the outside envelope they will see a beautiful ribbon tied invite (that I failed to take a picture of)

The beautiful blue pocketfold opens up to the invitation suite:

Some close ups:

I love the wording I decided on:

The post office said it would be 81 cents postage so we rounded up and put either 2 sunflowers stamps (42 cents) or 2 king/queen stamps (standard 1st class)

DOC Problem Solved
I wrote last week about the DOC I met with and how I desperately wished that I could hire her. Well, today I had to write the email and tell her that I would not be able to hire her. Yes, I chickened out. I probably should have called, but most of our conversations had been by email. My email was short and sweet, I thanked her for the time she spent with me, and promised to pass on her info to other.
On a positive DOC note, I have a friendor that has stepped in and offered us her services. This friend rocks my socks. She was a concierge at a big fancy schmancy hotel in L.A., has been a club promoter, runs 2 family businesses. Plus she has recently gotten married, so she understands my stresses first hand now.

We will officially meet to go over wedding plans later this week. She is literally only a DOC, but we will need to meet a few times between then & now to make sure we go over all the details before the day of.
This makes it official, ALL of our vendors are friendors!

Practicing Petals
The friendor that will be making our cutting cake & cupcakes had some spare time and some spare gum paste so she practiced making sunflowers to go on the cutting cake. Here is what she came up with:

She just put them on a styrofoam base, so the "cake" portion can be disregarded. I think I like the trio of sunflowers. What do you think?
Now I just need to find some ideas for the side decoration. I did a Flickr search for "wedding cake, blue" and found this one that I liked:

Then I did a Flickr search for "wedding cake, sunflower" and found this one:

I have blue satin ribbon that is leftover from another project, so I could give that to the Friendor and then if she can combine the top cake with the ribbon with the arrangement of sunflowers on the second cake we may just have a winner!
Have you turned to Flickr for photo inspiration when Google has failed you??

Invitation Inspiration
Mr B and I already know who will be making our invitations, that part is decided. My friend Lisa Nickle at Mementos is a fabulous invitation designer and is also an Envelopments dealer/designer! We don't go in to meet with her until next month but I want to show off a few invitation suites that I am currently drooling over:

{all images from Envelopments website}
and I think I like Envelopments Kaleidoscope pattern - it reminds me of sunflowers ... what do you think?

As for our colors, I need to see the options in person before I make any decisions. There will be blue, champange and either a gold or another "sunflower"ish color.
How did you decide who to use for your invitations?
