Light up the Night!

The best part about having an evening wedding is that I can have sparklers! I come from a long line of pyromaniacs ... my grandfather, my Dad ... heck my youngest brother is a firefighter (they are the biggest pyromaniacs of them all) We have had many parties at my parent's house with fireworks and sparklers.

I am not sure exactly when we will use the sparklers. One idea is to wait and do them at the end of the night as we are leaving. I am just not sure how many people will still be at the party with many of my friends having kids and needing to be at church Sunday morning. Mr. B has said that he doesn't want to leave too early either. We could always do a "fake" exit just to take the pictures, which is the idea that our photographer suggested.

Another idea is to have our guests surround the dance floor during our first dance

The last idea is to have our guests make a line for our grand entrance, I am just not sure it will be dark enough.

In any case I would love some "fun" photos with them as well. Kind of like these:

What are you doing for your grand exit? Would you do a "faux" exit to capture the photo?

I like the idea of the first dance and sparklers. You could always have people line up for your "entrance" to the dance floor and they could continue to use them during the dance. We sort of did a faux grand entrance with flower petals - mostly for pictures but also because we had a separate reception and it was the first time people saw us as a married couple.

NO NO NO TO FAUX!!! Your photographer seriously recommended a FAKE exit??? Hmmm... Anyway, I know you have no idea who I am, but that's my vote. For certain.

I definitely LOVE the idea of dancing and being surrounded by sparklers alight :O) If you go for it, my suggestion would be to have candles lit around the floor so people can light them up without the whole drama of "my match isn't lighting" or ugly red and black clicky torches being passed around. And also try to give everybody at least three so that they are still sparkling at the end of your dance. How romantic! And you should definitely try to do some of those long exposure shots. How awesome those would be!

(Sorry. I was a sparklers bride over nine years ago.) FYI - I found your blog via the style me pretty dolly couture post. I want the dress you inspired for my 10th anniversary party in March :O) It's perfection. Good job!

Blessings and sparkling champagne wishes for a fabulous wedding! Susan
